ALL June Event 2010

We'll use this age to record our thanks, pictures and resources related to this event - Thanks, a photo album, vox pops, related documents, and accounts.  We'll work on most of it over the next 2 weeks, but first and foremost, some public thanks ....

THANKS

Firstly, thanks to so many people who made the ALL London June Event so enjoyable:

Our wonderful, inspiring and entertaining plenary speakers, who managed to keep all 90 of us fully engaged during their lively talks ...Rachel Hawkes and Michael Wardle ..  Rachel Hawkes gave us eleven great ideas (-yes, she gave us a 'bonus' one!) for 'what motivates them' and Michael Wardle outlined a logical sequence of learning supported by some great games and much laughter. Both absolutely fantastic and we hope they'll come back in the future!
Those who volunteered to lead helpful 'language specific' sessions in the afternoon .. Sharon Mangion (Italian), Rachel Hawkes (Spanish) - members of the French National committee (Cynthia Martin, Daniele Reed, Nathan Jenkins) and members of the German national committee (Geoff Brammall, Angela and Carol Hughes).  It was especially nice to have both our current and elected presidents with us (Cynthia Martin and Karl Pfeiffer).
The Links into Languages team who organised the venue .. furniture, liaison with catering,  a smiling and helpful IT technician, a welcome from the nice men on the reception desk .. and who provided the coffee and lovely pastries.
The sponsors, Sanako (Stephen Blackie here) and Vocabexpress (Justin Sycamore) whose contributions paid for most of the lunch and The European Commission,  Spanish Consulate and French Institute who brought along some great posters and ideas.
The ALL London Committee who support throughout  the year and do lots of 'behind the scenes' work to help it all go smoothly  - Kathleen (maintainer of THE spreadsheet!), Monna (Treasurer) and Tanja (German committee) on the reception - Jen was particularly explicit on notices to toilets (frankly the most important signs in any institution!) - we liked Danièle's new sign templates - Cat there nice and early to do anything which came her way including liaising with caterers - Nathan ensuring everyone had a welcome - Richard, our new 'young blood' conducting 'vox pop' interviews - Prim distributing badges and infectious good humour - Nick being generally helpful and pulling us together on communications with people on high - Cristina organising certificates and a card to say thank you to José .. and everyone for doing whatever Helen asks them to!
..AND ESPECIALLY, all of you who turn up so faithfully and bring along your friends, ensuring that the event is buzzing, positive and loud! Thanks for all the thanks and encouragement you gave us on the day and we look forward to seeing you all again.

Don't forget to put Saturday 16th October in your diaries for our London Language Show social in Earls Court (sponsored by Edexcel), Saturday 22nd January 2011 for The January Event (Sara Sullivan and the BBC already booked and more to come) and Saturday 18th June 2011 for The Jun Event!
